(4) Chapter: Knowledge, its seeking and
its superiority.
Volume 1, Book 1, Number 18:
Ar-Rabee' ibn Habib said: 'Abu
Obeida told me from Jabir ibn Zaid from Anas ibn Malik from the Prophet (prayers
and peace be upon him), who said, "Seek Knowledge even if it is in
China."'
It was narrated that Abu Obeida said that Jabir
bin Zaid said that Ibn Abbas said: Once the Prophet (Prayers & peace be
upon him) entered into the Mosque, and saw his companions sitting in groups
(forming circles) acquiring and imparting different types of knowledge. In the
first circle, the companions were busy in reciting the Quran he joined them for
a while and said: "With this my Lord Has sent me." Then he stood up
and went to the second circle. He found them discussing Halal (lawful) and
Haram (unlawful). He joined them and said nothing. Then he stood up and went to
the third circle. He found them glorifying God, remembering Tawheed (monotheism
or the oneness of God) and denying partners, equals, companions, or associates
to God. He joined them for a longer time and said: "With this my Lord Has
ordered me. "Because Tawheed is knowing God Almighty
and who does not know Tawheed is not a believer." Jabir said.
Volume 1, Book 1, Number 31:
It was narrated that Abu Obeida said that Jabir bin Zaid
said: I was informed that while the Messenger of God (Prayers & peace be
upon him) was sitting in the mosque, three men came in. Two of them went in
front of the Messenger of God (PBUH) and the third one went away. When the two
kept on standing before the Messenger of God (PBUH), they greeted the Prophet
and his companions. Then one of them found a place in the circle and sat there
while the other sat behind the gathering. The Messenger of God said:
"Shall I tell you about these three persons?" They said: "Yes, O
Messenger of God". He said: "One of them sought God, so God took him
into His grace and mercy, the second felt shy of God, so God sheltered Him in
His mercy (and did not punish him), while the third turned his face away from
God, so God turned His face away from him likewise."
(11) Chapter: Love.
Volume 1, Book 1, Number 67:
Abu
Obeida reported from Jabir ibn Zaid that Abu Hurayra
reported that the Prophet B said: "If Allah has loved a slave, He says: 'O Gabriel! I
love My slave so-and-so; therefore love him.' So Gabriel (peace be upon him)
loves him. Then he (Gabriel) calls out in Heaven, (saying): 'ALLAH loves
So-and-so, therefore love him.' And the inhabitants of Heaven love him. Then
acceptance is established for him among the people of the earth. And if Allah
has abhorred a slave, so it is the same way."
Volume 1, Book 1, Number 68:
On the
authority of Abu Hurayra; he said: The Messenger of Allah B said: "On
the Day of Resurrection, Allah, blessed is He and exalted be He, will say:
'Where are those who have mutual love for the sake of My Glory? Today I shall
shade them in My Shade when there will be no shade except Mine.' "
Volume 1, Book 1, Number 69:
Abu Obeida narrated that Jabir ibn Zaid said: It was conveyed to me
that Mu'ath ibn Jabal said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "
Allah, blessed is He and exalted be He, says: 'My love is incumbent upon those
who love one another for my sake, sit with one another for my sake, visit one
another for My sake, exchange visits for My sake, and have no affectation or
feeling of inhibition or constriction when dealing with one another for My
sake.' "
Volume 1, Book 1, Number 70:
Abu Obeida reported from Jabir ibn
Zaid that Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
"Allah, the Exalted, said: 'If My slave loves the meeting with Me, I too
love the meeting with him; and if he hates the meeting with Me, I too hate the
meeting with him.' "
