(38) Chapter: Recitation in prayer
Volume 1, Book 3, Number 224:
Abu Obeida reported from Jabir
ibn Zaid that Abu Hurayra said: Allah's Messenger (prayer and peace
of Allah be upon him) said, "Allah, the Exalted, says: ‘The prayer is
divided between Myself and My slave, into two halves. Half of it is for Me and
half of it is for My slave and My slave shall have what he asked for.'"
And Allah's Messenger (prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) said,
"When the slave says, ‘Praise be to Allah; Lord of all Worlds,’ Allah
says, ‘My slave has praised Me.’ When the slave says, ‘The Compassionate, the
Merciful.’ Allah says, ‘My slave has extolled me.’ And when the slave says,
‘Master of the Day of Judgement.’ Allah says, ‘My slave has glorified me.’ Then
the slave says, 'You [alone] we worship, and You [alone] we ask for help,’ And
Allah says, ‘This is between Me and My slave, and My slave shall have what he
asked for.’ Then the slave says, ‘Guide us to the straight path: the path of
those whom You have favoured, not [the path] of those against whom there is
wrath, nor of those who are astray. ’ Then Allah says, ‘All these are for
My slave, and My slave shall have what he asked for.’"
(44) Chapter: The mosques and the superiority of
the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)
Volume 1, Book 3, Number 254:
Abu Obeida reported from Jabir bin
Zaid that Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet (PBUH)
said: "A person's prayer in my mosque [The
Prophet's Mosque in Madina] is better than one thousand
prayers elsewhere, except al-Masjid al-Haraam [The Sacred Mosques]".
(45) Chapter: Clothes and praying in them and what is Mustahab (recommended)
in this case
Volume 1, Book 3, Number 277:
Abu
Obeida related that Jabir ibn Abdullah said, "We went out with the
Messenger of Allah B on the
raid of Thee Anmar."
Then
Jabir ibn Abdullah said," While I was resting under a tree, the Messenger
of Allah B
approached us."
He said,
"I said, 'O Messenger of Allah! Come to the shade.' So the Messenger of
Allah B came
and sat down, and I stood up and went to a sack of ours. I looked in it and
found a small cucumber and broke it. Then I brought it to the Messenger of
Allah B. He
said, 'And from where did you get this?' I said, 'We brought it from Madina.'
"
Jabir
said," We had a companion of ours with us whom we used to equip to go out
to guard our mounts. So I equipped him and he went to the mounts. He was
wearing two threadbare cloaks. So the Messenger of Allah B looked
at him and said, 'Does he have two garments other than these?' "
Jabir
said, "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, he has two garments in the bag I
clothed him with both.' He said, 'Call him and command him to put them
on.'"
He said,
"So I called him and he put them on and then he turned and left. Then the
Messenger of Allah B said,
'What is it with him? May Allah strike his neck! Isn't that better for him?'
The man
heard him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, in the way of Allah!' He said, 'Yes,
in the way of Allah.' "
Jabir
said, "So the man was killed in the way of Allah."
Ar-Rabee' said, "Abu Obeida said, 'And this is an encouragement
and urging from the Prophet B for the Muslims to wear good dress for beautification.'"
